Hotel Re-opening - Okura, Tokyo
The iconic Okura has finally opened its doors after the long four years of refurbishment. The hotel known for hosting important summits and guests such as president Nixon, was completely rebuilt. It still has two wings, the lobbies of both wings and several of the restaurants were designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, son of the designer of the original hotel’s iconic lobby, Yoshiro Taniguchi. The designer reused much of the original décor from the old main building’s lobby, which was considered a Japanese modernist masterpiece. The hotel now offers 508 rooms. Explore it online here.
